Open Age

Open Age Gemco

Jul 19th, 2007

Every year, Gemco does two major productions, and enters a number of one-act-plays in the Dandenong Ranges One Act Play Festival. Auditions are open to all people of all ages (unless otherwise stated); there is no limit or bias on the people auditioning.

The exception to this of course is if the play requires, for example, five women between 25 and 35 years old to play a group of nuns (A convent of nun’s? A clutch perhaps?). I don’t think Henry at 55 years old will be asked for a call back.

Details about upcoming auditions are always available when we advertise and there’s always a phone number to call to ask any questions or concerns you may have.

Our Youth Groups often perform in our open age productions, as well as or instead of our youth groups.

When we performed Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat we had a childrens choir performing with people up the age of 50+. Our performance of Footloose - the Musical saw our entire Senior Youth group amalgamate with a cast of actors up to the age of 65 to create a stunning and vibrant performance.

Gemco is a community group whose aim is to make theatre accessible to all. Click here to find out how to get involved, on stage, or behind the scenes!
